Extraordinary 19th Century Khan Bakhtiari Chahar Mahal Village Tribal Rug Rare
Magnificent example of a rare 135-year-old Khan Bakhtiari rug in near mint condition (close to full pile). Original condition, no repairs. The "Khan" was the tribal chief and rugs woven for the khan were a class higher than other rugs woven by the tribe for regular use. I owned this rug for the last 7 years and purchased it from Brian MacDonald in the UK who is a world renowned, foremost expert and authority on antique tribal rugs. Before that it belonged to a Canadian collector who owned it for a long time. Size is 54.5 x 73 inches. Amazing array of all natural dyes/colors. I also provide a picture from a famous book and you can confirm the origin of these types of rugs. Great investment-grade piece.
