This beautiful rug was hand-woven in Tabriz. The rug displays an intricate arch-way with beautiful spandrels surrounding it. The arch way is perhaps metaphorical of entering g-ds presence and is a common theme amongst middle-eastern prayer rugs. Prayer rugs additionally display one sided designs, which is seen here. The rug has some Farsi writing in the center and it says "1272" probably in reference to the year of production in the Persian calendar (the year 2021 is 1400 in the iranian calendar; so the year 1272 is 1893 making the rug 128 years old).
