It is probably from an original pattern. It has a pretty dark blue/navy background with pretty bright colors for the design. It is quite special. It is coarsely hooked with loops and pinwheel flowers in magenta, pink aqua and green on the navy background. The flowers are stylized and abstract, and a butterfly is featured. The very thick pike is distinctive and makes the rug stand out. This rug is not of the more formal, practiced floral design school like the Pearl McGown school that so influenced rug hooking in the ‘50s, ‘60s and beyond. It is quite unique. This rug is in perfect condition, and has never been used. This rug would be pretty framed and hung in a spot near a fireplace or in the kitchen or foyer. It has a country cottage feeling but at the same time is colorful and pretty for a special wall hanging.
